About us

Working together with clinical partners and the biopharmaceutical industry, LIFE Biosystems is an in silico-driven biotechnology company dedicated to advancing the field of personalized oncology. LIFE has developed a novel computational infrastructure, designed to support new levels of innovation in the identification and treatment of non-responsive cancer patients. Focusing on the systems-based analysis of clinical and molecular information, LIFE is forging new grounds in the advancement of knowledge driven oncology. By strategically aligning our in silico discovery infrastructure with data from clinical and industrial partners, we enable our collaborators to:

  • Prioritize clinical application areas for new and approved oncology drugs based on the dictates of tumor biology, as opposed to market size.
  • Prospectively define those clinico-molecular features of a trial population consistent with likelihood of response to treatment.
  • Define the right drug for a given patient, and
  • Design rational, biomarker-guided combinatorial approaches to redress the enormous problem of non-responsive disease.

Company overview

The foundation of LIFE's business is built upon two distinct, yet highly synergistic assets - our patient-focussed approach to in silico discovery and our expertise in clinical and research IT. Our in silico discovery team is based in Heidelberg, Germany, a world-renowned hotspot for bioinformatics innovation and home of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). LIFE's clinical and research IT experts are based on-site at the M.D. Anderson cancer center in Houston, Texas. Here, we act not only as strategic consultants in translational research endeavours, but also pursue joint research projects aimed at maximizing the clinical and therapeutic impact of studies performed at the center. Such projects are intended to capitalize on the synergism created by combining data from world-class cancer research programs with the innovative approach to biomarker discovery afforded by LIFE’s in silico Discovery program.
